Some time ago, we at Seen On TV Express wrote about getting an early start on your lawn and landscaping by taking advantage of several As Seen On TV offers. If you didn’t listen to us then, we have a feeling that looking at your neighbors lush green grass and vibrant flower beds is making you feel just a teeny bit inferior. We are not going to say, “We told you so”–we are much bigger and more magnanimous than that (as you can tell by our use of the “Royal We” and really big words like “magnanimous”). Instead, we are going to give you another chance to get your lawn in gorgeous shape that will leave your neighbors (ahem) green with envy.

QuickLawn by Gardener’s Choice is a top selling As Seen On TV grass seed for quickly growing a beautiful, resilient lawn. Developed by scientists, Quick Lawn is designed to be a four-season, evergreen grass that starts growing in as little as one week. This university-developed turf grass is engineered to sprout quickly, filling in bare spots and keeping your lawn green throughout the year. To use QuickLawn grass seed, simply seed your yard and water.

Benefits of QuickLawn include:

Grows in even clay soil or sandy soil

Withstands both sun and shade

Resilient in heavy traffic areas

Resistant to disease and insects

Multiplies rapidly

Fills in bare spots and chokes out weeds

2 pounds of seed covers approximately 1,000 square feet

Velvety, evergreen lawn all year long–even in snow!

In our part of the country, we are having one of the greenest Springs in recent memory. Often, we are plagued with drought from late spring through fall. With red clay soil, our lawns are often brown and crunchy. This year, the rain and mild temperatures have created a lush and lovely Spring. In our own yard, that translated to Really Big Weeds, which, once destroyed, left Really Big Brown Spots. Quick Lawn may just be our answer to filling in the gaps and creating a beautiful, soft lawn that can withstand the poor soil and scorching heat of our summers.

Where will you use QuickLawn?

I like to cook. In fact, I like to cook so much that I’ve got a bun in my oven right now. Unfortunately, this little nine-month baking project is making it difficult for me to do much cooking these days. While eating isn’t much of a problem since I seem to pretty much be starving at all times, the act of actually going into my kitchen is often enough to send me running to the bathroom. No, eating is not a problem, but the prep work itself is. In fact, just the other morning I was feeling pretty smug about how decent I felt. I went in to the kitchen to scramble up some eggs for the family’s breakfast. As luck (or Murphy’s Law) would have it, my favorite omelet skillet was in the kitchen sink and needed to be washed before using. I picked up the skillet, but lo and behold, there was DRIED FOOD STUCK TO IT. This was enough to send me fleeing and to quickly abolish any plans I had of making breakfast for anyone.

What does this have to do with As Seen On TV and infomercial products? Well, a lot, actually. You see, my favorite nonstick skillet is several years old. What once let omelets slide right on out and onto the plate is now chipped, flaked, and scratched, leaving food stuck to the pan and leaving me clinging to the sides of the toilet waiting for this first trimester to be OVER ALREADY.

I can use my pregnancy as an excuse for a lot of things: I get to take more naps, I eat popsicles like there’s no tomorrow, I get people to lift heavy things for me, and now, I may just use it as an excuse to buy a shiny new As Seen On TV nonstick pan.

The new generation of nonstick pans shown on infomercials these days has a lot to offer over its Teflon predecessors. And a lack of Teflon is at the top of the list.

Three of the top As Seen On TV contenders feature nonstick ceramic as a healthier alternative to nonstick coatings that scratch, chip, and flake off into your food. The Orgreenic Cookware natural ceramic nonstick frying pan and the NuWave PerfectGreen nonstick fry pan both use a ceramic nonstick surface that prevents the release of toxins into your food while you cook. The Yoshiblue Diamondware Skillet uses nano-ceramic infused with diamond particles to create a nontoxic, nonstick, and durable cooking surface.

The benefits of these new As Seen On TV ceramic nonstick pans are many:

Healthier cooking by eliminating the need for added grease, oils, butter, and unhealthy fats

Durable nonstick ceramic pans that do not flake, chip, peel, or scratch, protecting the surface of your pan and protecting you from chemicals in your food

Do not release harmful toxins into your food

Orgreenic cookware does not contain PFOA

NuWave Perfect Green fry pan is BPA-free, PFOA-free, PTFE-free, and Cadmium-free

Yoshiblue Diamondware skillet can easily be wiped clean

Pregnant or not, safe cooking is important to me and my family–and mess free clean-up ain’t too shabby either.

Now, who wants to bring me a popsicle?

For years, infomercials have used the power of the airwaves to sell products using direct response television marketing. In the past, infomercials were often longer than typical commercials, though current trends sell As Seen On TV products on infomercial ads that are generally the same length as ordinary commercials. However, a new film may just extend the infomercial beyond commercial length and beyond the television screen.

Think Like a Man is a romantic comedy directed by Tim Story (Barbershop, Fantastic Four, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer) and starring Chris Brown, Gabrielle Union, and Kevin Hart. The premise of the story is that four women who have nearly given up on their men have turned to a relationship book to help them get the men to do what they want. When the men find out what they women have been up to, they try to turn the tables on their wives and girlfriends.

The relationship book the women use to manipulate the men in the story is the real bestseller Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by actor, comedian, and Family Feud host Steve Harvey. While Harvey’s book is not the first relationship self-help book to inspire a movie (see: He’s Just Not That Into You), the film Think Like a Man is being criticized for being too heavy-handed in pushing Harvey’s book. In fact, several reviewers have said the continued references to Harvey and his book take the film from being a romantic comedy to being an infomercial for Steve Harvey’s Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.

Reviewer Alonso Duralde of Reuters writes, “If you don’t mind enduring the film’s infomercial aspects, “Think Like a Man” winds up being an entertaining romantic comedy covering the very familiar ground of the differences between men and women, and the strategies that women must employ to get men to put that ring on their finger. Once Harvey himself disappears about halfway through, the movie has an easier time finding its own voice.” He seems to assert that the commercial approach detracts from what is otherwise an entertaining film. He writes that the film is “saddled with an adaptation that’s constantly calling attention to the source material,” and contrasts it to He’s Just Not That Into You, “another adaptation of a non-fiction dating guide, albeit one where the authors were happy to remain off-screen.”

Of course, film versions of popular books are nothing new, and product placement is nothing new. So what happens when you combine the two? According to critics of Think Like a Man, you get a feature length infomercial at cinema pricing.

Have you seen Think Like a Man? Do you agree with critics that it is more infomercial than movie, or did you enjoy the film?

If it weren’t enough trouble to try to figure out what to pack for my picky child’s lunch, I have to try to figure out how to keep that lunch cold and fresh and keep it from spoiling. For the most part, that has led to an inordinate number of peanut butter sandwiches in the school lunch. My son has an insulated lunch box, but it really just doesn’t keep food cold like I think it should, and let’s face it, who wouldn’t be a little suspicious of eating deli meat, milk, or yogurt that had been sitting at little better than room temperature for four hours or so?

I try putting ice packs or gel packs in the lunch box, but those can tend to squish the sandwich, they only keep the things directly in contact with them cold, and they don’t stay cold until lunch time–especially in warmer weather. They also hog all the room I need for actual food.

I’ve been pretty unhappy with lunch box choices so far, but the As Seen On TV PackIt “go anywhere mini-fridge” may just be the answer to my lunch-packing prayers.

This As Seen On TV product is more than an insulated lunch bag. In fact, the PackIt itself is the cooling pack. Keep PackIt in your freezer, and when you are ready to pack your lunch, pull the cold bag out of your freezer and fill it with whatever you like. The PackIt insulated bag has the cooling technology built-in. The cold completely surrounds your food, keeping it refrigerator-cold for up to 10 hours. When you use the PackIt for taking lunch on the go, you can pack meats, cheeses, yogurt, milk, and even smoothies to keep them cold and fresh until lunch time . . . and beyond.

PackIt is also great for taking drinks and snacks to the park, the zoo, or the game. Keep sports beverages ice cold on a hot day.

Another great use for PackIt is storing and transporting baby bottles. I wish the PackIt had been around when I was a new mom. I wouldn’t have to be paranoid about keeping milk cold, and it would be a great convenience for nursing moms who have to pump at work. Simply and discreetly store bottles of milk to take home from the office.

Of course, these days people are looking for ways to live a “greener” lifestyle. Reusable lunch bags are definitely one way to reduce waste. PackIt is great for eco-conscious people who want to feed their families fresh, wholesome foods and who do not want to contribute to environmental waste through disposable bags.

It is not often that I get really excited about a product, but the PackIt insulated bag, with its promise of keeping food cold for ten hours, is something I can get behind.

What will you pack in your PackIt?

This weekend marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the legendary Titanic. On April 10, 1912, the RMS Titanic, billed as “virtually unsinkable,” set off on its maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York. Four days later, the great ship struck an iceberg, sinking into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean and killing 1,514 people. Only 710 were rescued and taken to safety aboard the RMS Carpathia. Designed to make history as one of the grandest, largest, and most opulent passenger liners, the Titanic instead made history as one of the world’s great tragedies.

Stories from the great ship and its disastrous end have captured the imagination of generations worldwide. From “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” to the band that continued to play even as the ship went down, stories surrounding the Titanic only intensify the mystique of the sinking of the Titanic.

With the approach of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, interest has been renewed in the subject. There are countless ways to commemorate the Titanic anniversary, including the re-release of the James Cameron film and countless televised history programs. For 1,309 passengers aboard the MS Balmoral, the event is commemorated by a 12-night memorial cruise in which the ship retraces the scheduled route of the Titanic, pausing for a memorial service where the Titanic sank. Passengers will dine on food designated in the original White Star Line menus. The cost of the Titanic commemorative cruise is between £2,799 and £5,995 per person (or approximately $4,450 to $9,533 in U.S. dollars).

For those looking to commemorate the tragedy on a smaller scale, As Seen On TV collectibles may fit the bill quite nicely. In fact, one such collectible is indeed a bill. The Titanic Commemorative $2 Bill is genuine legal tender issued by the Merrick Mint that commemorates the maiden voyage and the sinking of the RMS Titanic. These crisp, uncirculated bills feature striking images of the RMS Titanic, and your order includes replica memorabilia from the RMS Titanic and the White Star Line.

Another option is the Deep Romance pendant. The stunning faux Ceylon sapphire pendant captures the romance and intrigue depicted by the “Heart of the Ocean” necklace featured in the blockbuster Titanic film by James Cameron. Inspired by one of history’s most famous gemstones, the Deep Romance pendant is a lovely and romantic way to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

Whether you commemorate the event by watching The History Channel, taking a memorial cruise, or re-enacting the “king of the world” pose while listening to Celine Dion, there is no question that the sinking of the titanic is one of the world’s most enduring legends.

As Easter weekend approaches, I am beginning to dread the Boiling of the Eggs that occurs shortly before my family’s Egg Decorating Egg-stravaganza. I always read about “how to perfectly boil eggs,” and although my personal method delivers relatively consistent results, I would not go so far as to say I get perfect eggs every time.

Now, I don’t really worry about it so much with the eggs we decorate, since after those have been hidden and hunted, I’m not too big on serving them. But when it comes to making eggs to eat–whether soft boiled, hard boiled, sliced, deviled, or diced–I’d prefer it if the eggs were cooked the way I intended. If you are going to be serving deviled eggs to your mother-in-law at Easter brunch, you don’t want to be serving a platter of runny undercooked eggs or dry, rubbery overcooked eggs. And if you are serving a crowd, you sure don’t want to spend an entire afternoon peeling eggs only to have some persnickety cousin chomp into a crunchy bit of shell.

As with everything else, As Seen On TV products offer “egg-cellent” solutions to your egg cooking dilemmas. Whether cooking or peeling is your nemesis, kitchen products from SeenOnTVExpress can simplify your egg prep.

If you need to leave the shell intact for decorating purposes, try steam cooking your eggs instead of boiling them with the Egg Genie Automatic Egg Cooker. The Egg Genie steams up to seven eggs at a time, using sound and light indicators to let you know when your eggs are perfectly cooked, eliminating the guesswork. No longer do you have to mess with large pots of boiling water–just fill the reservoir with water, set the timer, and enjoy “boiled” eggs in just minutes.

If you do not need the shell, or do not want to mess with peeling dozens of eggs, try Eggies instead. With the Eggies hard-boiled egg system, you simply crack the eggs into the Eggies container and boil your eggs. The special nonstick Eggies containers twist open, and your hard boiled eggs slide right out–no messy peeling involved.

Of course, these egg-straordinary solutions are not limited to boiled eggs alone. For cracking raw eggs without getting shell in your food, try the EZ Cracker egg cracker. The EZ Cracker neatly cracks your eggs without crushing the shell. It is perfect for fried eggs, adding eggs to batter, separating the yolk from the white, and even peeling hard cooked eggs.

I continue to contend that whatever the problem, there is an As Seen On TV solution. With not one but three options for easy egg cooking in our Seen On TV catalog, I rest my case.

Spring Break is here, and while the very term creates an image of tanned co-eds in bikinis and board shorts frolicking along the beach performing ridiculous alcohol-fueled stunts, the truth is that most of us are older and wiser than that. For us, Spring Break doesn’t mean tropical frat parties . . . it means spring cleaning.

Spring cleaning is a time to complete all of those DIY projects you’ve been meaning to get around to. It is a time to clean the things that you’ve forgotten about the rest of the year. Opening up the windows and doing a deep cleaning can be an exhausting task, but a fresh, clean home cooled by fresh, clean breezes is worth it in the end. Of course, As Seen On TV cleaning products can eliminate some of the hassles and some of the chemicals that have traditionally accompanied spring cleaning. Here are some of our favorite cleaners and tools to make your spring cleaning more efficient, more effective, and more environmentally friendly.

As Seen On TV Cleaning Tools

Monster 1200 Steam Cleaning Machine – When we’re talking about spring cleaning, we’re talking about deep cleaning. The Monster 1200 cleans and sanitizes your home, using the power of steam rather than toxic chemicals to kill germs on all the surfaces in your home.

Swivel Sweeper G2 - The Swivel Sweeper G2 is cordless and rechargeable, making it easier to take the G2 wherever you need it, without tripping over cords or searching for outlets. It features a Touchless Dirt Tray to get rid of the ick-factor, and it features a Back-Saver Elbow Joint to get rid of the ouch-factor, letting you reach areas other vacuums can’t.

Keeper Sweeper – Traditional sweeper mops are convenient, but they are not designed for every surface, and replacing their disposable pads and cloths is expensive and results in unnecessary waste that clogs landfills and harms the environment. The Keeper Sweeper offers all of the convenience with none of the guilt. Keeper Sweeper cloths are reversible, washable, and reusable. It also features different pads for different surfaces, including a chenille dust pad, a scratch-free glass pad, a scrubber floor mop pad, and a terry floor mop pad.

As Seen On TV Cleaners

Lasting Protection Antimicrobial Spray – Lasting Protection with MST does what other disinfectants can’t. It not only kills germs throughout your home, it creates an antimicrobial barrier that protects against bacteria, mold, fungus, and mildew for more than 30 days with each use.

Whip It Cleaner - If you are into cleaning with a conscience, Whip It cleaner is a must-have product for your spring cleaning. Infused with eucalyptus and free from toxic chemicals, Whip It is billed as the “earth-friendly miracle cleaner.” This multi-purpose cleaner is cruelty-free and vegan, and Whip It partners with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to combat animal testing. Whip It is safe for kids, pets, and the environment, but tough on dirt, grime, and germs.

George Foreman’s Everyday and More – The man whose revolutionary indoor grill spawned countless imitators now brings us a powerful, green cleaner. George Foreman’s Everyday and More cleaner is a safe, non-toxic cleaning concentrate that can be diluted to clean virtually anything in your home. From kitchen and bathroom counters to pet stains and laundry stains, Everyday and More delivers knockout cleaning power without toxic, harmful chemicals. And if there is one thing George Foreman knows, it is knockout power.

These are just a few of the cleaning products featured in our As Seen On TV Cleaning Aids catalog. From everyday cleaning to deep cleaning, Seen On TV Express has the products you need to get the job done right.

When making any purchasing decision, it is important to remember the wise ol’ Latin words caveat emptor–or, as we say in non-dead languages, “Let the buyer beware.” As Seen On TV products can do amazing things, solving life’s most frustrating problems. But whenever buying a product–whether from an infomercial, online vendor, or brick-and-mortar store–savvy shoppers evaluate the claims made by that product and keep in mind the adage, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” This is often especially true of supplements making bold weight loss claims.

Celebrity endorsers for one such product are now under the gun through a $5 million class action lawsuit alleging they made “false, misleading, and unsubstantiated claims” regarding the product’s effectiveness. Three of the famous Kardashian sisters, Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe, have been named in a suit alleging that they mislead consumers about QuickTrim diet pills. Kim Kardashian, one of the spokesmodels for QuickTrim claimed that she lost fifteen pounds using the weight loss pills and that she was using them to get in shape for her short-lived wedding.

The lawsuit, however, claims that Kardashian’s statements are false. The lawsuit reports that the key ingredient in QuickTrim, caffeine, is not an effective weight loss drug. The suit cites the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in saying that caffeine is neither safe nor effective for weight loss. Plaintiffs say that they bought the popular As Seen On TV weight loss aid based solely on the Kardashians’ claims that they were able to lose weight and maintain their celebrity physiques with QuickTrim.

Perhaps these emptors would have been wise to caveat. Before buying the product on the word of a celebrity, they could have also checked the active ingredients in the product and evaluated the effectiveness based on clinical research and FDA guidelines.

For many people, the lure of quick results is just too great to resist.

However, people looking for real, sustained weight loss and body transformation can find healthy solutions through As Seen On TV fitness products like P90X , P90X2, and Shaun T’s Insanity. These and many other Beachbody products combine rigorous, effective workout programs with healthy, balanced diet plans. Whether we like it or not, the only real way to achieve real results is through a healthy diet and exercise.

Of course, those looking for instant gratification aren’t left entirely in the cold. If you do not care whether you actually are slimmer, and you just want to look slimmer, or if you have a big event coming up and don’t have time to physically achieve the results you want, As Seen On TV shapewear comes to the rescue. Slim T and the Slim Away belt are designed to help men hold in that spare tire, while the Kymaro Body Shaper smooths women’s back bulges and muffin tops. You may not have time to lose ten pounds before your reunion/wedding/insert-dramtic-event-here, but with infomercial shaping garments, you can look like you did.

And you can do it in less time than it takes a Kardashian to file for divorce.

As Seen On TV products are well-known as innovations that solve problems. Sometimes, they even solve problems you didn’t know you had until you see the perfect product to eliminate all hassles involved with whatever task or chore is at hand. Though infomercial products are generally creative inventions that make life easier, occasionally, a product comes along that attempts to solve a problem that doesn’t even exist.

Enter the Katsak.

Katsak was promoted on QVC in the early 1990s as an As Seen On TV cat toy designed to keep your family’s feline entertained. If you’ve ever owned a cat, you know that an unentertained cat is a fat cat, and that finding a toy to keep your cat busy can be a chore. Cats are definitely finicky. The Katsak was created to appeal to a cat’s natural instincts:

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rChjMRfi40c

As a cat owner and reformed Crazy Cat Lady, I can speak with full authority when I say that cats do, in fact, love bags and crinkly noises–preferably in the middle of the night. However, I can also say with full authority that Katsak, at $24.35, does not fill any need. Crinkly sounding bags are freely available whenever you buy your groceries or stop at your local discount store. I’m sure my cat would totally dig Katsak–preferably in the middle of the night–but I could easily save my $25 and leave a plastic WalMart bag or brown paper grocery sack on the living room floor.

We’ve talked before about pitchmen and how their sale techniques can really create a desire to buy. I’m thinking perhaps Mike Rowe, who is selling Katsack in the above QVC video, could take a lesson or two from Anthony Sullivan. I mean, you can tell that Rowe thinks the Katsack is a ridiculous waste of money, and he seems to be completely bored with his job. Of course, if I were making a living pitching overpriced sacks, I might be a little uninspired by my work as well.

Despite the ludicrousness of the Katsak, there are a number of infomercial products for your cat or dog that are well worth the money. From grooming to safety to play, infomercial pet care products can keep your dog or cat healthy, fit, and entertained. For a full listing of the infomercial pet products we offer, please visit our As Seen On TV pet product catalog.

Last winter was brutal. BRUTAL. This winter, I was expecting more of the same, but instead, it has been remarkably mild. Perhaps some of that unspeakable heat from the summer is still lingering, because today it is more than 70 degrees outside. In February. Wow.

All of this warm weather is really starting to give me Spring Fever. Last week, we talked about ways to get your lawn ready for spring and summer with As Seen On TV garden tools and grass seed. This week I’ll be sharing with you some new offerings we have just in time for spring planting. We’ve recently added three new As Seen On TV plants to our catalog, and we still carry some of our infomercial favorites from previous seasons.

No matter what kind of garden you have, infomercial plants are available to make it hardier and more unique than ever before. We have fruits, vegetables, and flowers, so whether you want to spruce up your landscaping or eat fresh, organic foods without paying a fortune at the store, you can find a plant that will add a little something extra to your garden. Our latest As Seen On TV home and garden plants offer one each of floral, fruit, and vegetable.

Popcorn Garden - The Popcorn Garden lets you grow delicious, organic popping corn at home. By growing your own popcorn, you make sure that the popcorn you eat is fresh and free from chemicals, you save money over organic popcorn at the store, and you create an educational experience for kids at home. The Popcorn Garden is an easy-to-cut coconut shell fiber growing mat pre-seeded with organic popcorn seeds. Popcorn Garden comes with complete growing instructions, a popcorn brochure, and a 6″ pot. With the special Popcorn Garden Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer, you’ll receive two kits for one low price.

Strawberry Giant – Last year we brought you the Little Giant Blueberry plant that allows you to grow 16,000 blueberries from one plant. Little Giant Blueberries are still available, but if that’s just not enough berries for you, try adding Strawberry Giant as well. Strawberry Giant can be grown outdoors in your garden or in pots inside your home. Strawberry Giant is cultivated to grow in as little as 60 days. Because it can be grown indoors or outdoors, you can enjoy strawberries all year long. Strawberry Giant also carries a Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer.

Hummingbird Vine - Add a splash of color to your landscaping with the super resilient, easy-to-grow Hummingbird Vine. Hummingbird Vine is a brilliant trumpet vine blooming in yellow, orange, and red. The colorful trumpet blossoms are filled with nectar, and the vibrant colors and sweet nectar attract hummingbirds to your yard. Hummingbird Vine grows easily even in poor soil, full sun, or shady areas. Hummingbird Vine carries a Buy 2 Get 2 Free offer, giving you four plants for only ten dollars.

Popcorn Garden, Strawberry Giant, and Hummingbird Vine are only the latest in our As Seen On TV plant catalog. To see a full listing of available plants, visit the SeenOnTV Express As Seen On TV garden catalog. Get growing!
